Summer Camp in Albanian Language and Culture

AUK's Summer Camp offers courses in Albanian language, history and culture to junior and senior students from high schools in Diaspora as well as in Kosovo. An excellent team of professionals have developed a curriculum for this purpose and students will have the opportunity to travel through Albanian history from Illyrians until the most recent events that have marked our history.
The aim of this program is to introduce these students to the foundations of the Albanian heritage through lectures in Albanian Language and Literature, Albanian History and Geography, Albanian Art (i.e. Visual Art, Music Folklore, etc.).
In addition students will have the opportunity to visit some of the most remarkable historical sites in Kosova and Albania. These visits are chosen to complement the curricula and will help students understand better the facts learned in the classroom.
At the end of program participants will receive a certificate of participation in this program.

Academic Objectives

In the end of program, from participants is expected:

  • To recognize, understand and value achievements on national literature and Albanian tradition
  • To learn more about most important historic developments of Albanian nation
  • To understand and analyze basis of Albanian language, culture, history and geography
  • To develop values and create positive opinions about national accomplishments
  • To learn more about race, ethnic, sexual, cultural and religious differences in Kosova

Class size is 60 - 80 participants
During in class activities will be divided in 4 groups (sections), while for travel purposes they will be divided in 2 groups.

Length of the Summer Camp is 3 weeks.
Program start:            July 2, 2012    
Program ends:            July 21, 2012

Weekly Program Structure
5 days in class activities from 9:00 till 15:00 with one hour lunch breaks.
Evenings are planned with various activities both of cultural and entertaining nature. Students will have the opportunity to establish friendships and relationships with their peers from around the world.

Objective:
High School kids age 14-17 that want to enhance their knowledge of Albanian Language and Culture are the target group of this summer camp. We believe that the structure of kids participating in the program should be around 20% from Kosova and 80% from Diaspora.

Accommodation:
All the participants of the AUK Summer Camp in Albanian Language and Cultural Heritage will be accommodated at the newly build dormitories of the University of Prishtina. It is mandatory that all the participants stay in dorm.

Program Cost:
AUK Summer Camp in Albanian Language and Culture will be financed partially by the participation fee.

The fee of 480 Euro will cover:

  • Academic expenses
  • Three meals per day
  • Transportation and accommodation for the field visits in Kosova
  • Trip to Albania with one night accommodation
  • Dorm
